Linthicum Heights Residents Patrol Own Streets as Car Break-Ins Pile Up

Neighbors in Linthicum Heights say they've spent the past month chasing sleep and watching security cameras after a wave of overnight car break-ins hit their streets, with some residents now patrolling on foot after dark just to feel safer. Dozens of vehicles have been targeted, and the thefts haven't stopped at cars — lawnmowers have disappeared from sheds and bicycles have vanished from front yards.

Anne Arundel County Police's Northern District recorded 56 thefts from vehicles in September, and the department says the Linthicum Heights area accounted for most of those cases, according to CBS Baltimore. Resident Ryan Kirby told the station the rash of break-ins appears to be something new for the neighborhood, a sentiment echoed by others who say they've never seen this level of activity before.
